The woven material Covercraft uses for its WeatherShield car covers is produced by the makers of Sunbrella material, Glen Raven Mills. The UV resistant polyester fibers are solution-dyed, and the fabric’s dense construction (300 deniers) is a full 40 percent heavier than regular Weathershield HP car covers. This thicker, heavier fabric provides incredible strength and durability. Covercraft WeatherShield car covers are available in GRAY only.
Solution-Dyed Process
The pigment is added during fiber production. These fibers are spun into yarn resulting in permeated color throughout the fabric creating consistent, lasting color.
Conventional Dyeing
The pigment is applied after the fabric is made. Color is not an integral part of the fabric, making the fabric more prone to fading as well as more difficult to clean.
The finishing process is another unique design. The fabric is treated with a patented process that places a high performance finish on all of our popular Weathershield HP car cover fabrics. The immersion encapsulation process creates a finish that bonds to each thread individually, filling the gaps to provide the best moisture protection, but maintains the breathability of WeatherShield fabrics.
A WeatherShield HD car cover is most beneficial to people who live in extreme environments, such as the intense sun of the coast or RV owners who store their vehicle outdoors for extended periods of time. This thick, protective fabric isn’t as smooth or compact as some other car covers, but offers the best performance in truly harsh environments.

- Double stitched overlapped seams are strong and durable.
- Neoprene elastic is sewn into the front and rear hems to help hold the cover in place.
- Reinforced, non-scratch grommets include a protective flap on the backside and can be used with a tie-down rope or vinyl coated cable and lock.
